And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested. ( 1 Chronicles 4:10) (KJV)
Jabez was named so after his mother bore him in pain. Have people tagged us with titles or names that is not pleasure to the ears?? It could be in our spiritual/ career/ personal life, it could have been from a fellow believer, a pillar of the church, a prayer warrior, our mentor, a loved one, perhaps it could even be a random thought, a voice…Some times, it doesn’t take words, actions of some may implicitly tags us! BUT remember, God is not a respecter of persons, HE sure is open to our cries too. He alone can change our name/ future all we need to is ASK Him!We all have prayed for different reasons and seasons (it isn’t an overdo asking God for a new spiritual season). The devil may prompt us with our incapacities, fallacies, weaknesses, negatives and failures for we know Satan comes for..to Kill, Steal and Conquer so let us be alert to shake off any depressive thoughts. Take a moment to remember all the tags at a personal or a spiritual front, and let us pray like Jabez did. Oh dear Lord, only if thou bless me INDEED (love this word!) and enlarge my coast ( name your coast..) and that thine hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me!!
