Charles R. Swindoll’s insight for today around the topic “spiritual leadership”

In summary : The qualities of world leaders include but is not limited to, “optimism”, “persistence”, “ambition”, “independence”, “practicality”, “discipline”, “integrity”, “flexibility”, “knowledge”, “insight”, “creativity” are a few.  But in the spiritual leaders we read of in the Bible don’t seem to have it all. God chose those whom the world may have rejected with the above qualities as the criteria! In Exodus 3 and 4, we see a withdrawn, insecure, fearful, doubting Moses, in Amos 7:10 - 17 we see a negative, ill-prepared, fig-picker Amos, and we are well acquainted with the impulsive, short-sighted Peter. They clearly don’t fit the a leader this world would appoint but God chose people who desperately love the Lord, He chose who are remarkably available to Him and to His will. What  HE looked for was basic : faith, vision teachability, determination and love. God is still searching for men and women even if they don’t fit the standards this world set. Let us be open, flexible and tolerant as God is. So let us shun the thoughts of negativity saying "I'm not useful to God” or look at our kids and perceive thoughts of negativity. God may have a distinct, unique role of leadership even for our children. If God hadn't  written off an impulsive, shortsighted  Peter, if God hadn't  written off an insecure, doubtful Moses…and if He hadn’t chosen a short statured David why should we write off ourselves or our children!!
God Bless
