But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.(Matthew 16:23)(KJV)
Just a few verses away, we see Peter professing his revelation of Christ. We see a Jesus who was willing enough to fulfil His role as the Son of God. Jesus knew he had to sacrifice, a price to pay, death and torture in some time. But, Peter with all good intentions didn’t want Jesus to go through this. But he was thinking from his perspective and not from God the father’s perfect will.
In our lives too when we know that God expects us to do certain things which may seem to be hard, the world around us; out of good intentions may urge us to take the easy path. Like Jesus rebuked the thoughts of Peter, meaning to say his thoughts were influenced by the ‘wisdom of the world’, can we take courage to do it??
I got a pic from a friend this morning which made me think again that I take so many simple things in life for granted, including having a book to turn to, The Bible! Thank you Lord for every thing you've blessed us with!
