But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart. (1 Samuel 16:7 KJV)
Samuel was a prophet, a man of God, yet he gets a clear instruction from God not to look at the outward appearance when trying to choose a King! We who claim to be a child of God may also need / take heed to instructions from God to make the right choices in life. Samuel was very close to finding a King in the house of Jesse yet he needed God more than ever till the very end to anoint the God chosen man. Even if we are one step close to our promises we still need to rely on God and not our wisdom. Samuel obeyed God and not the appearances or the outward gestures. Let us leave all our decisions to God, allow him to work, and obey His voice today!
