But Martha (overly occupied and too busy) was distracted with much serving; and she came up to Him and said, ‘Lord, is it nothing to You that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me, to lend a hand and do her part along with me! (Luke 10: 40 Amplified Bible)

In our homes it’s not appreciative of women to sit back when elders at home work (although our parents would yearn to see us sit at His feel more than help them out) We must not ignore the fact that what Martha undertook was honourable, thoughtful and her motives were sheer service for Jesus; her desire was to be hospitable and to provide for gathered all at her home! But the issue was SHE took on too much, overwhelming her physical limits!! I’m certain many of us can relate to Martha, and have found ourselves in the same position too! Jesus didn’t have any issue with Martha’s way of doing service for Him, but when she was worn out, nervous and upset; Jesus unveils a thought; a fact, that, in the Kingdom of God, we don't need to demonstrate our love by draining energy out of a person. He says "If you come to Me, I will give you rest."

Jesus wants us to cultivate a fruitful life to have a balance between our life and spiritual life not to first deal with out busy life and then spend time with Him!  Today lwhat burden are we carrying? Has it been given to Him in heaven? Are we tending to our tasks after spending time at His feet? Let us call out to Him first and confess like the Psalmist "He restoreth my soul’ and wear ourselves out in vain. Let us rest with Him!

Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words (Daniel 10:12)

God's promises were fulfilled in His due time although Daniel had to face challenge!!! the ministers and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. The only thing they could come up with was asking the King to issue a decree that all should pray to King and whoever doesn’t will be thrown in a den of lions! Daniel was thrown in to the den but he was not attacked by the lions. In the end the King sent a decree that all should worship Daniel’s living God! Who fights our battles?? God can not only send his angels to fight and conquer our enemies but can bring restoration and reward.

God finally rewarded Daniel to receive his allotted inheritance (Dan. 12:13). God is always in control.  He will not forsake if we, like Daniel, exercise wisdom and surrender our hearts to Him.Today if we feel we are in captivity, know that if we turn to God with all our heart and obey his directives, he will hear and deliver us into His freedom, just like He did for Daniel.

I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts. (Psalm 119:45)

God's freedom is not the world's freedom. When we walk closely with God, when we seek to know with our whole heart and live in complete obedience according to His truth; God will be delighted in us and in turn we will receive His peace, His rest, His protection, He comfort and His strength. He hears us and will rescue us.

There might be times when we feel like fighting our own battles. But there comes a time when God will show up to deal with our enemy, either by ending the situation or by promoting us out of the situation entirely, all to His glory. Let us walk in His freedom and not rely on our abilities to deal with things!
