Prayer List

Let’s commit to pray these things for our Church this year:

1. Prayer to be our priority before we plan, as we plan, and as we serve for meetings/worship, church services
2. That everyone from a young child to an adult will encounter Christ personally allow Him steer their lives
3. To keep the Word of God to be central to all we do - to stand firm on biblical truth to gives us a complete picture of what Christ wants our lives to emulate.
4. For greater unity in our church
5. For greater intentionality in evangelism, look for people who need to know and experience Christ.
6. For greater emphasis on cell meetings to get to know each other on a deeper level.
7. For membership to be more meaningful, pray that our members will be able to give undivided due priority to OCC

8. For plans to remain as a true disciple to Christ.

Thank you Lord for a blessed 2015!!

Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God (Isaiah 40:1)

It is that time of the year that we look back a year and remind ourselves of how God was faithful despite our unfaithfulness, He remained faithful and unconditionally loving!! Personally this was a year of God’s favour, God’s worked in ways no eye has seen/heard/conspired. Spiritually, a year of learning…with moments: of  being in despair, of exceeding joy, of feeling let down, of being HELD, of tears and moments of reaping, God’s ways were miraculous. Many a prayers were answered in the lives of our brethren, our church got a new face, a new place of worship and some godly new faces. The hall may not be FULL now, but it reminds us of one thing..there are MANY out there who are waiting to fill those seats !!! It was a year of harvest as a church, many a hands prayed, many a hearts were united...We serve a God who is zealous, its our prayer to be a church with the zeal and people who gives priority to the church where they are planted when it comes to prayer and meetings.

On a personal note, I was weighed down when mum wasn’t well, when things didn't work out in terms of a job, when my second child was always under the weather. There were times I wished to stretch my arms to be of help to ease the burden/pain of all around me. There were times when I sat down and prayed for nothing but "contentment". But,I must say God met all our needs, the same God who sent in a raven to meet the needs of the prophet, sent timely help for us when we were in need. Psalmist said "a thousand may fall at your side a ten thousand at your right hand, yet it will not come near you” and it came true, God sustained us!!

I’m a mom who has this queer tendency to repeat important words and phrases to my children, especially in when I sense ’trouble’……and sometimes I say it more than three times…words like "It's alright, it's alright"... “don't worry, don’t worry"... "careful, careful." Usually as a parent we tend to be iterative assuming that our children aren't fully attentive to what we say or there is some other frightening fact/thing that has temporarily captured their attention. Sometimes all we wish to do is to implant our words into their minds and hearts during a crisis.

Like any loving parent, God is trying to comfort His people, His intention is consolation and not consternation. When things around are hideous and harrowing He says "comfort ye, comfort ye". He uses these words to “my people” and “your God”. Know this, even when we shudder and feel the tremor under an appalling trial, we are NO LESS HIS, WE ARE THE SAME CHILD TO HIM. Our wisdom might prompt us to believe otherwise but let us remember, He will never forsake us or leave us as orphans. So as we are at the edge of stepping into another year, let us be assured of this fact that regardless of the trial we may face, regardless of the fear and dismay we may feel, let us listen to the comforting words of our Heavenly Father throughout the year 2016 that “You are mine and I’m STILL Yours” and he repeats himself to us “Comfort ye, Comfort ye”.. God Bless!!

30th December 2015

Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness (2 Peter 3:11)

When we see a warning sign of a "Dead End" we still have a choice to alter our current course of life, and make changes. Peter says, knowing that this world is coming to an end should cause us to consider our way of life. Our thoughts, words ambitions, actions, and affections should be different. Our focus should be to seek after the  riches of heaven than the temporariness of earth! There would only be a thin line between pursuing the world and God....what will be our choice ?? The holiness and consuming fire of our God should fill our hearts with a genuine desire for purity and godly passions!!!  The atrocities and rottenness of this world should turn us to the perfections of Christ.
Let us realise each day that all these things that we SEE, HEAR and DESIRE will dissolve like smoke into thin air, what would remain is what kind of person would you and I be before God?

God bless you today as you prayerfully prepare for the new year!

Discipleship!

I embarked on this thought of Discipleship after I took up the interest to go with a specific reading plans. It was last year I joined the "Hello Mornings" Worldwide, and after reading and being in track for a while, a few thoughts that was came out of my  mind and that was posted by my own hands, led me to this. I  must admit it was hard to keep up with their pace, but the group encouraged me to not stop pressing !!! Another Mum Amber, was a powerful encourgaement for raising kids without raising my voice. Her attitudes, he writings and her trust in God was so inspiring :)

Glad that  I was led to them, a open forum of many women from several different countries around the globe for a single reason to know God and to pray to God. A place where no judgements were made, no expectations other than to be a disciple was intended, a place where no one tried to show their superiority or take the lead. Thank you Lord from bridging nations and countries without boundaries for a good cause :) Feeling blessed totally!!

Geeba

I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long. (KJV) ( Psalm 38:6 )

Like David was filled with grief we are also very vulnerable to feeling depressed, hurt and disheartened. And for some of us it is quite a difficult mindset to escape once we allow these inward thoughts to take hold. Although in such moments it is very hard we still need to take heart and realize "God has a plan" and HE still loves us unconditionally beyond our state of mind. Words can hurt us, rip us and tear our joy BUT there is still hope in CHRIST for our happiness. Your happiness will be sustained not by circumstances, but by His enduring love for us. Father help me realize the depth of your love, so that all my burden will turn towards being joyful and loving others.

Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God (Ruth 1:16)

This statement from Ruth is a commitment, not only to her mother-in-law, but to the God of Israel. Although Ruth grew up as a Moabite in an idolatrous society, she claims that, from now on, she will have only the one true God as her God and is forsaking her emotional, sentimental or religious attachments. Let us ask ourselves if our affections and attention are still splintered in a hundred(if not a thousand) different directions, by every thing around us, that unchecked appetite, the attraction of multifarious luxuries, the bickering and squabble on account of “wants” and not “needs”, the peer pressure, the fear of what others will think? Have you made a hard and fast commitment to God?

Let us be emboldened by Ruth's courageous example to tell all around us and not be dissuaded from our decisions in Christ, the choice you have made and the course that we have set for following hard after God.

Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart(2 Timothy 2:22)

Youthful lusts are many; physical attraction, excessive desire for fame, acceptance, success, or achievement. Paul warns us against such short-sighted cravings of youth. Lusts include any hunger or ambition that distracts from our pursuit of true righteousness, faith, love, and peace!!! This verse complemented a discussion that we had a family! We were discussing about the  'worldly' outlook within the spiritual community, i.e. you say you are a spiritual person yet yearn for fame, acceptance and name!! We are to pursue hard after a pure-hearted devotion to God. We will not experience a fulfilling Christian life until we avoid sin and also seek after Christ out of a pure heart !!! Let us remember to flee away from sinful temptations, and follow after Christ as your Lord!

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. (1 John‬ ‭4:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

God loved us so much that He sent His son Jesus to this world, permitted His son to die on the cross for the remission of our sins! What greater love have we heard about? How many of us will give up our own child to die in place of another person's faults? God loved us so much that He didn't even spare His own son from the cruelty of the cross! God sent Jesus so that we might live through Him. Are we living a life worthy of His call? Worthy of His love? Do we neglect His love or do we take His love for granted by living a life fulfilling our carnal man? Are we nurturing the spiritual man? Are constantly reminded of His love for us?

Only by pride cometh contention
(Proverbs 13:10)

Arguments or strife comes by way of pride. We can be loud to declare our innocence, or cleverly defend our cause, or furiously justify our position BUT only by pride comes contention. Can we honestly say arguments are because of other people's pride and not ours?? Every conflict in every home needs a constant, honest self-examination from all (husbands, wives, parents, and children alike) Do we contribute to tension at the home? Could we have spoke words seasoned with salt to avoid giving offence? Does our pride escalate a productive discussion or honest disagreement to worse? What is God's role for in our home? If each of us in a home humble before God, the strife in the home will slowly but surely dissipate. When pride is gone, the tension will be gone. So let it then begin with us!

This is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day(John 6:40)

Jesus Christ came to fulfill the purpose for which the Father sent him into this world. Jesus says, every one who sees the Son, and believes on him, will have everlasting life pls note there are are no exceptions.Even if we see ourselves as too dirty, or unworthy, or flawed to hope for forgiveness and healing and salvation Jesus unmistakably and intentionally promises eternal life to every individual who believes on him regardless of our lineage, regardless of the mistakes we have made, or how low we may feel. Not only will Jesus raise sinners from the miry clay of our past, he will raise even from the grave one day.
Is this salvation ours? Have we "seen" and "believed" on the Son??

And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. (Isaiah‬ ‭30:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

We have placed our life and future in the hands of the Heavenly Father. Our aim is to live for Christ, and if we truly wish to live according to His will, we need His voice daily! When our mind gets distracted, when things seem out of control, when we have our own doubts, when there are  uncertainties all around let us be certain of this, that He will guide us through prompting us the way to choose and the steps to take regardless of our situation IF we allow/ask Him. He will guide us both in trivial and significant matters when we are unsure of our tomorrow there is one who can guide us until end of times!

But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart. (1 Samuel‬ ‭16:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

Samuel was a prophet, a man of God, yet he gets a clear instruction from God not to look at the outward appearance when trying to choose a King! We who claim to be a child of God may also need / take heed to instructions from God to make the right choices in life. Samuel was very close to finding a King in the house of Jesse yet he needed God more than ever till the very end to anoint the God chosen man. Even if we are one step close to our promises we still need to rely on God and not our wisdom. Samuel obeyed God and not the appearances or the outward gestures. Let us leave all our decisions to God, allow him to work, and obey His voice today!

If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. (KJV) ( John 15:10 )

One of these days, I was disturbed in my time with God, I kept "feeling" heavy, and troubled. My thoughts were: "I am not good enough (and never will be) for Christ', considering the fact that I don't live up to His standard and how easily I am defeated; a misbehaving or disobedient child can make my tongue to sin, my anger to erupt and my peace to be snubbed!!! On other side I said 'no God forgives if we repent and correct' but other voice kept telling me 'u are a failure'. What should have been a prayer turned into few minutes of disturbed state of being. I spent several minutes with absolutely no peace then after a tug of war within me, a thought flashed 'He holds my future He alone can change things around' all I have to do is 'pray without ceasing for me to overcome all the difficult areas'

After all that, I read this verse and I say I want to abide in His love. It takes the right attitude to be obedient! It comes natural to us to fight against submission but a loving relationship with God makes our will/desire to be aligned with His will. That submission must come out of our love for Him because we know He works for our best even when it's hard for us to understand. What joy must it be for our Heavenly Father to know that we are happily obeying Him! Are we self-willed even though we call ourselves child of God? What is our attitude towards obedience? Is it out of love or fear or expecting something in return? Are we abiding in His love the way He intended it to be??

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. (KJV) ( Psalm 23:4 )

If we want to nurture a relationship with someone that will stay until the end of days, it is it only possible with Jesus. Even when we are old, not in a great health, or when we fail to meet our our expectations, or when we are alone, let's have a faith strong enough to still know that we are a child of God. Let us continue to nurture that relationship with Christ, when our day isn't perfect can we look back and see if Christ was our priority that day, or if He was then although it looks imperfect remember He sees us through our imperfections each and every day. He will provide protection and comfort us in all our troubles!

Whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward(Mark 9:41)

I love the way Jesus looks at acts of service and devotion He even notices  the smallest of acts or devotion and He says even that will not go unrewarded!!!. God remembers even though we forget the service the moment after we render it. Although we may not all be required to be tortured for the sake of Christ All of us have to die daily to self, to think of how the kingdom of God can be served by us. We may not be "known" by others but if we willingly serve in the kingdom of Christ with what we have/are and out of our love for Christ then, we shall not lose His reward. Notice Jesus didn't just say he will receive a reward, but he shall not lose it!

And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; (KJV) ( 2 Samuel 22:2 )

When things around us seems to be still, when we are troubled and the rest of the world keeps on moving, when no one knows our biting issues, worries or concerns  remember to look at Jesus our rock!! When we are disturbed within and when it seems that people turn a blind eye, when we falter, remember, Jesus is our rock, the only fortress and deliverer who we can rely on. Sometimes He teaches us by having to wait upon Him, so even if the answer seems afar pray without ceasing, have faith we might be taught "perseverance" in the process! The only one who really feels our pain and knows what we are going through He alone can carry us through it. Let us lean on Him today and forever!

And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. (KJV) ( Isaiah 58:11 )

When we are struggling with a burden when no one can help when you wish to say everything will work out fine. Remember there is our Lord who will give us strength and will never leave us. So shall we simply say to all our gnawing problems that Lord can do it, embrace it faith in God!!

Dec 10, 2015

When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple(Jonah 2:7)

Prayer can take us to God, Jonah had ran away from God, disobeying Him. Because of Jonah's disobedience to preach in the city of Nineveh the ship was caught in the great storm, Jonah was thrown out of the ship and swallowed by a great fish. In verse 2 Jonah describes his predicament as being in "the belly of hell". Verse 4 says Jonah felt as being cast away from the presence/care of God. Yet, he says, "I will look again toward thy holy temple."

When we suffer for our own sins, out of guilt, or pride, or embarrassment we turn away from God rather than turning to Him in prayer. But like  Jonah let us realise that afflictions can draw us to God. Even as Jonah suffered "in the belly of hell" he was able, through prayer, to come to God in his holy temple. If we find ourselves far away from God let us, through prayer go to Him!

Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel (Isaiah 41:14)

God says to Israel in exodus 6:6  "I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from ...... I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments" This verse is a picture of a greater, gospel redemption that would be for ALL of God's people. We are worms by nature, slaves to sin and to Satan but God has emancipated us, taking on the role of redeemer. Jesus Christ came to give his life a ransom for many!

So today "let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer" (Psalm 19:14).

Dec 8, 2015

So encourage each other and give each other strength (1 Thessalonians 5:11, NCV).
The ones who need love most is those who are hard to love.. Those that are hard to love might be the ones who desperately need the love of those around them. They need the love of those who can look past their flawed behavior and even  the hidden pain....remember Jesus loved us when we were unlovable.
Let us allow God to fulfill His plan in our life. If we try to take things into our hands there will be a limitations but if we allow God to take control we can be more useful! Our thoughts are not His thoughts our plans may NOT be His plans. So let's ask God to open our eyes and hearts !!
Dear Heavenly Father, forgive me for the times I judge others instead of loving. Give me Your eyes of love and mercy, guard my tongue, guard my heart to build others up and not destroy them. Help me grow up to be like Christ.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth(Matthew 7:7-8)

Only when there is a sense of neediness we do ASK, why would one ask when there is no need? Around 11 years ago I asked God for a child although married for only 3 months! There was a specific incident that led to it, not in the mood to come out with it, will save it for another time! Something's don't come my way without needing, without asking and knocking. It was a time that I recognized I needed to follow God's plan and started to pray rather labor in prayer. As in this verse when we are awakened to pray God will promise with an answer. After a year we were blessed with a healthy boy weighing 3750grams on a December 7th. There are several such prayers that each of us will have to share:) Everyone who asks will receive!

There might be times when we haven't found the answer or we seem to be still knocking at a closed door and God hasn't answered, do not give up. Just believe God will either give us what we have been asking for, or he will give something better. No one will go away disappointed in praying although we may have to linger there for a long time. What are you thankful for today?

Exhort one another daily, while it is called Today; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin(Hebrews 3:13)

Every testimony we hear should be exhortation! Today's baptism service made me look back, 'twas in my 4th yr of B.E on a weekend that I took baptism at a Pastor's church in Dindigul. The time we choose didn't make it possible for family to be with me although mum and dad n few were praying! I was the last one to take water baptism at home. There was no church to witness just the pastor's family and an evangelist of the church. The day following my baptism I attended church meeting and wasn't asked to testify coz my Tamil was poorly or may be the Pastor thought I wouldn't be up to it!

I knew I had a different standard but even slightest sin lies to us, causing us to harden our hearts and draw away from God in unbelief (verse 12).
Whether the sin is lust, anger, pride, greed, it deceives us into thinking that satisfaction or fulfilment is found somewhere else than in God through pleasure, or gaining more "stuff." But God has taught me that it is all a lie. Today when I see a prayer answered in the life of others, there is a profound joy only found in the path/presence of our living God. My needs, wants or even aspirations seem dead and limp.

The fellowship of saints brings exhorting, lest sin have its hardening effect on our hearts. We may walk faithfully for a week, a decade, or half a lifetime but  constant vigilance, and the exhortation of others, is needed in order to avoid sin's pitfalls today, no matter how successful we've been so far!!  So once again Father God in the name of Jesus I ask you to accept me, mould me in to your likeness to run this race for You!!

Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. (KJV) ( Mark 10:15 )

Children aaccept things at face value giving a fair amount of faith  and trust in what they are told.  As adults, we have prejudgment, knowledge or acquired wisdom which makes it more difficult to blindly place our faith in the Kingdom of God.  But if we receive like a little child, our Lord is trustworthy, He will not fail us. Today shall we dig a little deep within us to bring out that inner child and step out in faith.  Today I have many unanswered prayers, several questions that bring tears even when i think of it, I am willing to look through the lens of my younger self, to trust God today…Would you too do it today??

This is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day (John 6:40)

Jesus came to accomplish the will of his Father which is God's predestinated purpose which will be fulfilled. Jesus says, every one who sees the Son, and believes on him, will have everlasting life. Even if we see ourselves too bad, or unworthy, or with several flaws Jesus unmistakably and intentionally promises eternal life to every person  who believes on him regardless of our which family we came from or our past sins!

Not only that He says "I will raise him up at the last day". Jesus will raise sinners from the miry clay of each one's past and will also raise them finally from the grave one day!! The everlasting life that is promised includes the resurrection of our body in the last day.

Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: and he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings (Daniel 2:20-21)

There is only sovereign ruler who rules over all creation, who is sovereign over all wisdom/ knowledge, over all might/ power, it is none other than our Heavenly Father! No one has wisdom and power without God giving it. It is God who changes the times and seasons on earth, and it is God who removes and sets up kings according to his pleasure. The seasons on earth can change if our God commands! Rulers are set up or brought down by God.

With Daniel shall we also say this exclamation of praise: blessed be the name of God for ever and ever! He is worthy of praise because he owns all wisdom and power, and he is forever worthy of praise because he will always be sovereign. Let us take a moment to pray for Chennai again! Let us ask God to change the condition of that city!! He is the only sovereign God who can change seasons and conditions!

I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin(Psalm 32:5)

Two things we see here is sin  confessed and, when confessed sin will be forgiven!

The psalmist reports that he was brought to the place of acknowledging his sin. He was not trying to hide it, or justify it, or excuse it. He held nothing back during his confession; he admitted to God his every fault and failing.

As he freely admits his sin to the Lord, we should notice, the psalmist also freely acknowledges it as sin (not just a mistake or personality flaw). He confesses his transgressions to the Lord. They are his (no one else is to blame) and they are transgressions (willful offenses against the law of God).

Have you gone to the Lord in confession and owned up to your own willful disobedience and pride? Have you utterly opened your heart to him, acknowledging the wrongs you have done against his good and just law?

Then -- but only then -- will we have the same assurance in which the psalmist rejoices, that our sin is forgiven and every transgression pardoned. What a sweet, powerful thing is a clean conscience before our holy God!

Do not delay the repentance that God deserves or the forgiveness that you need.

He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD. (KJV) ( Psalm 112:7 )

There are times when we trust God but our heart may not! Although we know God loves us, He will never leave us, and He has a plan for us, we still we find it hard to have the peace. In such times it is possible for us to take matters into our own hands, wanting to control situations and leaving no space for God to step in. If we take things into our own hands we aren't stepping out in faith. If we try to build a fail proof life can we ever notice our Heavenly Father at work? When we see trouble, hear bad news, or fear the future with the current affairs around us, do we step in and take charge, or yield to God for a total surrender to steer us through?? Only way to see God in the midst of all uncertainties of our life is to allow Him to work for us, in us! We may have failed a thousand times but if we leave it to God, He can make even our failures for His purpose. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory(Psalm 73:24)

Life in a summary;
When on earth, a child of God needs God to counsel and direct each step. We need God to be by our side always never to leave/forsake us, to help when we stumble, to steer when we lose our way. We need Him to guide us with His counsel. The counsel of a God who is an infallible leader,  an omnipotent, and a wise God who will never give us wrong advice or guide us in a wrong direction.

Afterward, "He will receive me to glory". After He has directed our ways on earth, He will usher us into your glorious presence in heaven. So  whether it is life or death it is a life with Him!! Death, where is your sting; Grave, where is your victory; Devil, where is your terror? My God will guide me with his counsel, and then receive me to his glory!!

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. (KJV) ( Matthew 5:13 )

We know that salt is used as a preservative to keep food for longer than it normally would. If it loses its use the salt will be thrown out with the trash. Although it isn't easy to imagine how salt loses its saltiness, in the context is of a Christian isn't hard to see how a Child of God his/her flavor. When he/she tries to blend in with the world, the essence of a Christian is being trashed by they themselves. It is important to not loose the flavour of Christ for he expects us to go from salvation to sanctification and finally to glorification! Let it always be our prayer to have His flavour and willingly do our best to keep our Saviour's flavour! If we have failed let us take a moment to ask God for forgiveness and return to Him!

They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away(Luke 8:13)

In the parable of the sower, a man goes out to sow seed on his land. The seed falls on different kinds of ground. Ones that fell on stony ground springs up and looks productive. But, because it lacks root structure, it withers!

Jesus explained the parable as: The seed is the Word of God, grounds are the different ones who hear the Word. The stony-ground receives the Word initially with joy, but then melts in the moment of trial or temptation OR, they fall away when real life hits them.It is not the seed, but the ground, which needs to change!

We must not receive God's Word as just an encouraging story, or a façade to put on for others but receive it deeply and allow it to guide our decisions, emotions, and actions allowing us to face life with a deep rooted faith in the Word of God.

The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing(Psalm 34:10)

In youth there is vitality and strength; our minds are fresh, our spirit is confident and our body is energetic. These are the things God gives us when we are still learning, growing, and maturing. But the power of youth doesn't excuse one from disappointment or pain! The psalmist says even the young lions, with all their prowess and boundless energy, suffer hunger. The strongest, or most talented person on earth won't find lasting satisfaction, or avoid pain, because of their strength or talent alone. But they that seek the Lord whether young or old shall not want any good thing, they will succeed when they seek the Lord. God is able to give what strength alone cannot obtain.

Shall we stop relying on our own decisions, strength, assets to deliver us from defeat ? Only Those who seek the Lord will find every good thing that life has to offer.

[Jesus] saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me. And he left all, rose up, and followed him (Luke 5:27-28)

God's ways and thoughts are different than man's. He choose a Matthew a tax collector. We read in Matthew 21:31 that tax collectors are classified with harlots, in Matthew 18:17 we read that they are classified as heathen. Yet, Jesus saw Matthew  he called him while Matthew was still sitting and performing service!

The deep faith Matthew responds is remarkable: "he left all". He forsook his livelihood, his lifestyle, everything connected to his sinful past for Jesus! In John 10:27 it says, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." True faith leaves all comfort zones, sinful pasts in order to follow the Saviour. How are we responding to Jesus' call today? How obedient are we to the little things he asks us like, our time, our walk, our heart ? Today can we  one thing that he asks us!

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee (Isaiah 43:2)

When we experience drowning, crushing, trying power of a trial we need to admit that it is part of life. We may have to face illness, pain or loss in life. There is a wonderful promise in this verse and there is the reality of suffering: when you pass through the waters, when you walk through the fire. The reality is God's children are not exempted from trials. The promise is that He will be with us, trials will not overcome us and we will not be harmed.

No matter what obstacle we face  "Fear not," God says in verse 1, "because I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name, you are mine". He will not let anything harm us. Nothing will overwhelm us, no sorrow will destroy us.

Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52)

A summary statement of 18 years in the life Jesus, from 12 yrs years old to age thirty. It was a majority of Jesus' stay on earth and it's a marvelous description of how he spent his days!

First, he increased -- a continual growth. Do we reach a plateau in our walk with God, a point in our faith we  stop growing, stop studying, stop seeking a deeper relationship with God?!!

We must not allow years to go by being stagnate spiritually. Jesus increased increased his physical maturity with spiritual maturity. As he grew, his relationship with God also increased. Jesus was filled with love for God, purity of heart, and a desire to please his Father in heaven. Our goal should be the same. May we never stop increasing in the love we have for God and the pleasure we bring to God.

Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD (Proverbs 8:33,35)

I must be honest here, it is not easy always to receive instruction and not be defensive when being advised! But when the instruction is god's true wisdom, our obedience will show our love, dedication and total submission to God. When we obey God against our wisdom, experience and desire it will bring pleasure to our Heavenly Father. Whilst it our natural tendency to become defensive when receiving counsel Bible says only fools convinces himself that his own ideas are always best. Let us listen to godly counsel, hear it, apply it, and not refuse it, to be wise in His sight! Let us not snub away the prompting of the Holy Spirit! Wisdom, is not knowing all the answers, but hearing/ implementing the wise/faithful counsel of God's Word and being submissive to His instructions. If we walk in His wisdom we will receive favor of our Lord.

The one who finds wisdom finds life. The abundant, free, joyful life is only found in the favor of our Creator.

By [Jesus] therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name (Hebrews 13:15)

When we praise God we are reminded about how He led us through in the past! This verse says we need to praise God by thanking God; a praise to our God that's continual; one that consists of our lips giving thanks to His name by the name of Jesus.

However busy we may be in life when we are on our knees let us always remember to thank God. Let us not give petitions - "Please..." to God more than we show our gratitude - "Thank you..." It is certainly not wrong in making needs/desires known to Him in prayer. But, let us always consciously, bring in grateful words of praise to His name, for all He has done, can do and will do for us. We must not get into a thoughtless exercise of duty, instead a continual bent of our heart in gratitude when we are in the presence of God. When we learn to appreciate God it stop us from being discontented! It is by the authority and grace of Jesus that we are allowed to enter to God in prayer so let us always be thankful also to the Father for His Son, Jesus !

Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines...yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation
(Habakkuk 3:17-18)

This morning I opened to read a verse after I prayed a personal prayer request. The very first feeling as I saw it was discouragement coz it talked about a fig tree not blossoming, which to me felt I won't get what I asked for! Even though discouraging thoughts flashed my mind, it was snubbed off immediately...

Habakkuk struggled with the fact that God was going to send judgment on rebellious Israel, but he eventually realizes that God is sovereign. God's chastening may not feel good, but it is always right and good. The book ends with this declaration: although suffering may come or pleasures/ provision may run dry, yet I will rejoice in the Lord. The Lord, not my surroundings/circumstances, is my salvation!

There is only one response to our circumstance, faith in God; which isn't dependable on circumstances; which doesn't require prosperity to persist; which enables us to say "thy will be done' even when we see dark clouds gather! Through reading Habakkuk, I realize that I need to acknowledge ever day that God is beautiful and trust each day that whatever God has is for my very best. Father I need true faith every day to see you as "the God of my salvation" when deliverance seems so difficult to achieve and when you seem to be  distant to my plea!!

If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet(John 13:14)

What an example of a boss, a leader, a teacher, a master?? It was the night before Jesus' crucifixion, after supper, he got up from the table, took a towel, poured water in a basin, and began to wash his own disciples' feet! Peter insisted Jesus never to wash his feet! The idea of his Lord/Master performing this menial service was unthinkable. Jesus not only completed the task, but commanded that they do the same for one another in the future.

Are we keeping the air about us when it comes to serving like Jesus. The symbol of washing one another's feet is more than words or pats on the back, a willingness to exhort, encourage and admonish one another toward a holy life, a willingness to help one another. Lord help me see like you do, work like you do and serve like you do!

But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. (KJV) ( Luke 12:31 )

Our wants are not always our needs! If we seek His kingdom He is sure to meet all our needs :) We may want better jobs, homes, cars, clothes, or other stuff but remember our needs are something which we cannot do without! What is your need today? What are we seeking, are we chasing the world and its pleasures or yielding to the pressures? We need to seek only one thing, His will!!

Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil(Proverbs 3:7)(KJV)

An advice not to think highly of ourselves, to not trust our instincts and emotions or our wisdom but to
fear the Lord and depart from evil. If we fear God then we will automatically strive to avoid/ overcome sin. The author warns the young heart not to trust the deceitful ways of sin  but, to fear God and avoid sinful situations. We ought to practice and also teach our children to fear God, and avoid sin.

Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy. (KJV) ( James 5:11 )

Some things in life extends longer than planned that may drains and exhausts us even to a point of a near tearful surrender. But James says that we will be honored for our endurance. For most of us certain life events or prayer requests that is still in an on-going state of "work in progress' may drain us psychologically! It is the uncertainties that may put us off, it is the waiting that frazzle us. For those  of us who still have many a prayers unanswered, this gentle reminder is timely! Let us keep on patiently enduring to see the end, our Lord is pitiful and of tender mercy! God bless!

Nov 15, 2015

The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy(James 3:17)

Love this description of wisdom of God! As we read this chapter 3 of James, it teaches us to handle our words n thoughts, in verse 24 we are reminded not to "glory in" or be proud of the bitterness, anger, strife that is in our heart. Regardless of how objective and genuine our grievance may be we must not respond in a way that is dishonours Christ. Heavenly wisdom is pure, peaceable, gentle, and easy to be approached, is full of mercy, so it looks over personal injuries; it is full of good fruits so it will respond with  love even when attacked or provoked and it is without partiality or favouritism. Heavenly wisdom doesn't judge a person because of past mistakes/flaws!

Lord grant us your wisdom to reflects the kind of wisdom that comes from above, not the kind that is earthly, unspiritual, and devilish! Father God, I can't exhibit these qualities without Your wisdom. Let our children, families and churches be filled with your wisdom...

Be of good comfort...and the God of love and peace shall be with you
(2 Corinthians 13:11)

When the world around us has no clue of what's on our mind. Certain commitments we make to Christ may involve certain sacrifices! When no one sees our sacrifices, when there are only criticism or when people don't try to see how hard things might be for us, when we have every reason to be disturbed, shall we genuinely look around to receive the truths of the Bible and hold on to it and believe in His words to be comforted??

Father God, when I wonder why God has not sent comfort my way, help me to see the countless comforts you has sent my way, through your Word! When others see failure and faults in me help me to believe you and to receive your Words allowing them to infiltrate my doubting, discouraged and deflated heart!

Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help. (KJV) ( Psalm 22:11 )

Whether in an intense challenging phase of life or not let us always remember to invite our Heavenly Father to walk with us. There is no one else who can walk with us like He does. There is no ear that will always be near to listen than His. There is no one who will bring us blessings and answers when it is most needed than Him! He only has the power to change our attitudes and also others' towards us as well! He only can be with us when no one can reach us, let us hold on to Him!

Nov 12, 2015

The letter of Hebrews encourages us to persevere. Our confidence is based on what Christ did/does for us, by giving us a freedom, boldness and confidence. ‘We can now – without hesitation – walk right up to God into “the Holy Place”. Jesus has cleared the way by the blood of his sacrifice’ (vv.19–20, MSG).
We are to persevere because we have one another to help. As the writer urges us to ‘hold unswervingly to the hope that we profess’ (v.23), he does so in the context of community. Gather together often with other Christians to encourage one another: ‘Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshipping together as some do but spurring each other on’ (vv.24–25, MSG).
  • This really matters
He warns against deliberately continuing to sin (v.26). This means something like sinning ‘defiantly’. He warns of ‘a mighty fierce judgement ... if you turn on God’s Son, spit on the sacrifice that made you whole ... God has warned us that he’ll hold us to account and make us pay ... Nobody’s getting by with anything’ (vv.26–31, MSG).
This is often applied to people outside of the church but actually it was written in the context of the Lord judging his own people. This is not something his readers have fallen into. He reminds them of the time when ‘you stood your ground’ (v.32).
  • The rewards are great
He encourages them to ‘Remember those early days when you first saw the light? Those were the hard times! Kicked around in public, targets of every kind of abuse – some days it was you, other days your friends. If some friends went to prison, you stuck by them. If some enemies broke in and seized your goods, you let them go with a smile, knowing that they couldn’t touch your real treasure’ (vv.32–34, MSG).
  • Be patient
Life is short and life is long. On the one hand, life is short. In a short time, we will either have died or Jesus will have returned: ‘For still a little while (a very little while), and the Coming One will come and He will not delay’ (v.37, AMP).
On the other hand, life is long. In the course of a lifetime there will be tests, trials and difficulties which require stickability: patience, endurance and perseverance. ‘For you have need of steadfast patience and endurance, so that you may perform and fully accomplish the will of God, and thus receive and carry away (and enjoy to the full) what is promised’ (v.36, AMP).
The writer has full confidence that his readers will persevere: ‘But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved’ (v.39).

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool
(Isaiah 1:18)

If we turn to God in repentance all our past mistakes will be washed away. It doesn't sound reasonable that an apology can undo a wrong committed. Saying sorry for adultery or murder doesn't undo the unfaithfulness or loss. How does repentance to God make our sins be clean and white before God?

It's because of a suffering Servant - Jesus was "wounded for our transgressions"; our punishment was put upon him, and it was by His wounds we would be healed and clean. We can't do anything to take away our past sins but when we turn to him in repentance, our sins will be washed completely away by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. What is our relationship with God?

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:2)

The things we learn as we look to Jesus on the cross is how to suffer pain, endure injustice and much more. Jesus is the author and finisher of our life saving faith because of what he accomplished at the cross. His work on the cross puts away our sins and transfuses us with his righteousness we only need to ask Him. There is no real salvation outside of Christ's work on the cross.
It was only for this Jesus endured the suffering and ignominy of the cross; the salvation of His people! After which Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. He sits there now, at the right hand of God, as the only intercessor and mediator of his people.

Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone (Hosea 4:17)

God made such a sad statement  "Let them alone." because  the people of Ephraim became so attached to idols.Jesus made similar statement concerning Jewish leaders, who consistently rejected God's revelation: "Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind" (Matthew 15:14). We must not have personal idols or have selfish ambitions that cause us to reject the authority of Christ upon our lives.

God informs Hosea that, God won't speak to the people of Ephraim anymore to Hosea because they persisted in rebellion and idolatry for long, and were unrelentingly, God determines to leave them to their misery. It is a terrifying reality that if we are so hardened in sin God will no longer even speak to us!,Today, if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts" (Hebrews 3:7-8). Let us be willing to correct our mistakes before our hearts turn cold and are unrelenting!

Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him
(Acts 12:5)

We read that James was beheaded by Herod and Peter was awaiting his execution in jail... BUT prayer was made. The chapter ends like this: "the word of God grew and multiplied" (24) it was at the point of prayer that this end was reached!

This prayer was without ceasing, it was made by the church- the body of Christ. If we the body of Christ do not pray for one another who will pray for us? This prayer was unto God-  the one true and living God. And this prayer was made for Peter. If we the body of Christ pray like this we can be assured that such a prayer will be a turning point in the midst of our needs, wounds and losses.

And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.(Ezekiel 37:3)

In the vision Ezekiel had dry bones depicted demise and death. The dry bones were the people of God.The vision continues with a prophecy of resurrection and restoration for the people. There is hope for God’s people, there is hope for the Church. When circumstances look like as if there is a dryness, a lack of hope, a sense of being abandoned..What is our reaction? Will the dry bones that we see come to life again??

Speak words of life instead of negative words. God can revive things that have been dry and dead. When the word of God and the Spirit of God come together, there is resurrection life and the knowledge of God. What is impossible with human beings becomes possible with the power of God. Without God the church would indeed crumble away as the world tells us. But with God, these dry bones will live again.

But to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. (Isaiah 66:2b).
One way to please the Lord is through constantly learning, and submission to His word. When we read the Word of God we realise all that we are is because of His mercy and grace. There is nothing to be proud of!! Our sovereign God did not spare His own Son for the sake of our sins! Even if we were the only person in the whole world still He would send Jesus to save us. Can we think of any relationship wherein one would sacrifice their only beloved child for the remission of the sin of another? The more we read, we understand all that we have is His Grace if we get close to God and His Word it will keep us humble and contrite. Let us reverently be responsive to what He says, Psalm 2:11 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; (KJV) ( Colossians 4:2 )

We undervalue the blessings God has given us when we focus on things we don't have. The feelings of resentment may start to build up.  Instead of making only requests whilst praying we must take time to think through the ways HE led us so far, the ways we are blessed and truly thank God from the depths of our heart.  If we truly 'see' we will realize the blessings in our life is only because we are loved by God. If we have once seen God's favor in our lives, can we stop praising? As I pray this morning I truly say thank you Lord for your journey mercies, love and favor last night and I trust in you to carry me through each day!!! Teach us to continue to pray to watch our prayers with a thankful heart !!

It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22–23)

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:22–23)

If we choose to live by the Spirit, we will not follow the lusts of the flesh that continually tempt us. Instead, we will produce the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control!! These are the characteristics we see in Jesus. I feel so heavy that I fail terribly to bear all these fruits. There are moments when I can't hold my peace, when things are unfair, when what happens around looks chaotic, there are moments where I fail to be more patient n show long suffering. Our company clinic tests our patience on some occasions with grumbling on the inside we adults put on a face of pretence which clearly isn't hidden from God. I ask myself how am I doing with regards to these fruits??As Ezekiel 22:14 says "Can thine heart endure, or can thine hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with thee? I the LORD have spoken it, and will do it."

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.(Ephesians 5:15–17)

One of our most valuable possession is time. We may get more money not  more time. Paul says not to fritter away our lives, like fools. Our life is short that we must make the most of every day God has given us. We must understand the will of our Lord in order not to be unwise. Which means we should enquire or seek His will by surrendering ourself completely, willing to take up the paths He sets for us even if it seems a drag! To seek His will we need to know Him first, or atleast get to know him.Let us sit, learn at His feet to understand what He wants of us and how to  make the most of each hour of every day He gifts us (let's not overlook this gift it is an unmerited gift actually)

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (KJV) ( John 14:27 )

One of the most valuable things in this world is to have peace. Some say they go on vacations, smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol, get massages etc to relieve stress? Such peace are temporary not forever, it will fade away quickly. Lasting peace is possible only if we are truly in CHRIST and rely on HIM beyond our worldly knowledge and understanding. This lasting peace is a promise from Christ himself which we can depend on at all times. Let us yield to Him fully, accept and depend on His peace daily even when we encounter trouble and commotion!

He looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God (Hebrews 11:10)

When God called Abraham, Abraham left his home, family, his comforts and went out not even knowing where he was going! Verse 10 says he did not know exactly where he was going, but he knew what he was looking for. He was looking for a city that was built on a firm foundation. Abraham knew that any place/people that are not built on the solid foundation of God's teaching would surely sink. Wanting to be built /shaped by God Abraham traded the emotional/ physical stability of his hometown for a spiritual/eternal foundation of God's will.

Do we trust in familiar surroundings, assets, or even family for our security or are we looking to God and building our life on his Word and his guidance each day. There is nothing more solid than God's promises and there is no one who can build a city or shape a life like God can!

Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me (Matthew 15:25)

This Canaanite woman came to Jesus for healing for her daughter. Her name is not mentioned but her great faith was commended by Jesus himself! She had to face three obstacles before she received the blessing she sought.

1. silence : She first begs Jesus for mercy, he doesn't answer her a word (verse 23). Have we not also felt the same after a prayer that "He answered...not a word"? But the difference is she wasn't  discouraged by it.
2. Disciples/saints: When Jesus did not reply her, his disciples thought it's their duty to get rid of her. These disciples who represented saints asked her to go away! Even this didn't deter her.
3. Insult :Jesus called her - dog. Jesus' reply indicated that his help really is mercy, and she doesn't deserve his attention. We would have been shocked and disheartened at this but this woman was not! She knew she did not deserve his favor, which we sometimes tend to forget.

At her answer Jesus witnesses, "great is thy faith." Her absolute trust and faith in Jesus brought her to Jesus to say "Lord, help me." It was her GREAT FAITH  that helped her face the obstacles to fall at the feet of Jesus and beg for mercy. How big is our faith, today? Does our faith in Christ charge past all our obstacles to fall at Jesus' feet and beg for mercy?

Those that be planted in the house of the LORD... shall still bring forth fruit in old age (Psalm 92:13-14)

In verse 12 we read that those who live godly lives will be as strong and healthy as cedar trees. The promise does not refer to one's physical body, because we read, even in old age the godly will continue to grow and flourish, living fruitful and prosperous. The psalmist is speaking of the prosperity of one's soul. One might be of strong physical health yet is withering away on the inside!! But a child of may be declining in physical strength and yet be growing and thriving within. The difference is, a cedar-like soul is planted in the house of the Lord. The presence of God, and his Word, will be his strength. God delights in our worship, gratitude and submission not our physical limitations! This fruit is one that we can bear even when our health deteriorates or are confined by weakness. We wilfully submit to you our Heavenly Father, our Sovereign Lord continually to bear fruit!

The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will
(Proverbs 21:1)

Jesus Christ is the only King of kings, President of presidents and Sovereign Lord who rules! It is a comfort to know He controls everything as certain things are beyond our own control. God has the power to overthrow human purposes. Didn't He bring down Nebuchadnezzar, Ahab, and Herod? Didn't He turn the heart of Pharaoh, King Xerxes, and Saul of Tarsus??

So today when we feel we can't control things, remember this: God is still on his throne, regardless of the  political, social/economic upheavals that shake our world. The hearts of kings are still in His hand, He can turn them perfectly, according to his wise and good will!

No chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby
(Hebrews 12:11)

When we go through trials remember this, no trial feels good at the moment. God knows that our pain hurts; He does not expect it to feel good when affliction comes to us. However although it does not feel good right now, our trial will have a good result, as we are "exercised" by it.  We go through pain to be disciplined, to build us up, to look to God for our strength and fulfilment, to become a stronger person and finally to obtain a worthwhile goal as we establish n maintain our relationship with our God!

Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee  (Isaiah 49:15)

Sometimes we feel let down, forsaken, forgotten or even overlooked by close friends and even family! Although it is unthinkable or unnatural for a mother to forget or neglect her nursing baby, it is possible that she may put herself first and not consider the needs of her infant baby. But God speaks this powerful promise: even if your own mother were to turn her back against you, or forget you, yet HE will never forget you. Although others may neglect us God will always nurture us.

So even if circumstances  deteriorate, or parents may disappoint, though friends may forsake, God is our ever present companion who will never let us go or leave or forsake us!! When the world around us ignore, forget it let us down, if we are HIS we will see His hand !!

Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name
(1 Chronicles 29:13)

Let us remember what God does for us and take time to give thanks to God's glorious name! Today, if we breathe it's nothing but His grace, if we return back safe home it's His grace; everything we have comes from God:

The verse above this says "Both riches and honor come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all" No matter how hard we work, or how intelligent and able we are everything that we are enjoying ultimately comes from God's gracious hand!! If we have enough money to cover our expenses, if we have moved up the ladder at our workplace, if we have peace at home, if we enjoy His protection, it is clearly God who has given us the skills, the health, and the mind to flourish. Even if we don't see success remember this God, in his perfect wisdom and with his might, he has dispensed to us what is best for us, if we are his. So no matter what your circumstance or situation, we thank you, God, and praise your glorious name!

Comfort one another with these words (1 Thessalonians 4:18)

Aren't these comforting words that death is temporary and that our life with Jesus is not. Death that seems to be finality is broken by the declaration of Christ that He will come again and take us with Him!
The second part of Paul's message says our time with the Lord will never come to an end. We will spend eternity(forever)with the Lord! So when we comfort others, when we comfort ourselves know this Jesus called us not for the things of the world, He chose us to spend eternity with Christ! Shall we look at all of life's problems, concerns, anxieties and Uncertainties and say these are not for eternity these won't last forever!!

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2)

Bearing each other's burdens implies to emotionally, financially, physically, and spiritually support one another in times of need. The church of Jesus Christ is the body of Christ, where there is a commitment to grow, rejoice and hurt together as a church. Each member of God's family should share/bear grief, pain, or problems of others. We are to bear one another's burdens and reflect selfless nature of Christ. Let us be examples of those selfless nature of Christ!

I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels (Psalm 81:12)

Sin separates us from God, that most people don't want to be separated from God through sin; Notice that going after our own lusts, desires or plans may not sound bad or look like much of a penalty but in reality this is judgment; this is punishment. Those who persist in sin and rebellion, God leaves to their own lust and allows them to walk in their own counsels. Their desires will consume them without end, because there is no true or lasting satisfaction apart from God, they will forever lack contentment!! A person who is left to her own counsel without God will be like blind without a guide. He/she is free to walk in any direction he/she pleases, but there is danger and destruction on every side. The great punishment for sin is getting our own way. Let us always Put God First, seek His counsel it all our ways!!

These nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day (2 Kings 17:41)

Isn't this a horrifying observation? Having double-minded standards they sought to serve both God and idols. At one end they practiced some of God-fearing lifestyle, but simultaneously they served pagan gods. The worst part was this pitiful, destructive and double-minded worship was followed by their children and grandchildren. It started  as one person's disobedience but became the sinful tendency of generations. Although this is recorded in the bible as a history the same sad story may be the case with several homes today.

As Parents/grandparents let us not  get away with half-hearted service to God, while embracing pleasures of the world! We may leaving behind young generations who have no clear direction in life instead of living as a single-minded sacrifice to God. Let us teach our children to love God with all their heart, soul and mind by living out a Christian life before them.

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4)(KJV)

We eat in order to live but Jesus reminds us that food alone won't suffice! We may have all the food in the world and still feel lifeless and empty. But the Word of God can energize, strengthen, fill us and sustains us even when other food is withheld! And we need to live by every word that proceeds from God's mouth. Let us enjoy the pleasure of communion with God and refrain temptations that Satan lures us through worldly pleasures. Let us decide to live not only on bread alone but also by every word of God!

Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors (Matthew 6:12)(KJV)

We must confess our sins and ask God's forgiveness every day! If we delay to confess we may feel estranged from God n even worse guilt may make it even more difficult for us to go to Him. So let us go to Him regularly, allowing Him to cleanse us, to commune with us and to be refreshed in His presence. As we ask for forgiveness let us also remember it is tied to our own forgiveness of others! Jesus, is saying we must be willing to forgive others completely, if we expect God to forgive us completely ! Let us examine if we have taken our account to God in prayer and ponder if we have forgiven others as we hope to be forgiven by God! God bless

Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore. Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth; (psalms 105:4-5)

We need to seek Him every day to find our way ahead, seek Him to find the steps to take each day. If we turn back the pages of our life, we won't be able to count all the marvelous works He has done. Looking back to yesterday, Some of us can say with certainty that we saw His marvelous hand. Let us trust Him to valiantly be our source of strength for today n forever!  As we seek Him He will show us the way, He will not sleep not slumber, He will work in favour of us! Today let us remember all that He has done n praise Him n declare that our future is also secure in Him!

He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man. The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy. (Psalms 147:9-10)

We take so much efforts trying to hone our skills, which is alright, we can use our gifts to glorify God. But when we use our skills n talents with NO regard for God, they are worth little! God desires our reverential fear and trust. If we have those He will use our strengths, skills and talents in ways greater than we can imagine:))
